Our history
Founded in Tamworth in 2022, after twelve years of hidden addiction. One talk at a college turned into a programme running across the country.
Our mission
Educate young people on how the industry really works — then stand beside anyone already caught in it.
Our vision
A generation that sees gambling for what it is. Normal doesn’t mean safe — and no one should lose a life to it.
Our impact
394 young people reached across 55 workshops, rated 8.8 out of 10.

“Young people have grown up in a world where gambling is everywhere — it’s become the norm. But normal doesn’t mean safe.”

Aaron built a career in education — managing teams and partnering with Further Education providers across the UK — while privately living through a gambling addiction that began at 16, in the move from school to college.
Unwilling to speak openly about it and weighed down by the stigma around addiction, he battled mostly alone for over twelve years, losing more than £250,000 and living with serious mental, physical and financial harm. Today that lived experience shapes everything ATO delivers — the content, the workshops and the strategy.
Three areas of focus.

Prevention
Relatable, engaging and evidence-informed workshops that spark open discussion, promote critical thinking and empower young people to navigate the risks of gambling.
Workshops →
Awareness
The Awareness Club drives greater understanding of gambling-related harm among 16–24-year-olds, highlighting the influence of gambling advertising on young people.

Recovery
So many students and staff reached out for direct support after our sessions that we launched ATO Recovery — 1-1 coaching that helps people take back control.

Giving back to the clubs that raised us.
We sponsor kits and partner with local groups — putting our name where a bookmaker’s usually goes, and opening a very different conversation with young people about what sits behind the bright lights and the free bets.
